Application Industry of DIN abrasion tester
Q1: What materials can be tested on the GT-KB03 DIN Abrasion Tester?
A: The GT-KB03 is designed for vulcanized natural or synthetic rubber, thermoplastic elastomers (TPE/TPR), shoe soles, tires, rubber hoses, conveyor belting, and rigid polymer materials requiring friction wear characterization.
Q2: How is the abrasion resistance result calculated on a DIN Abrasion Tester?
A: Result is expressed as relative volume loss (mm3). The specimen is weighed before and after the 40-meter run on the P60 abrasive drum. Mass loss is divided by specimen density and corrected using a calibration factor derived from testing a Standard Reference Rubber on the same abrasive paper.
Q3: How often should the P60 abrasive paper be calibrated or replaced?
A: Abrasive paper performance degrades over time. It must be calibrated regularly using standard reference rubber. When the mass loss of the standard reference rubber falls outside the range specified by ISO 4649 (typically 180mg ~ 220mg), the abrasive paper must be replaced.
Q4: Is a sample preparation die included with the machine?
A: Yes, GESTER includes a standard ø16.2mm cylindrical cutting die with the GT-KB03, allowing laboratory technicians to quickly punch uniform samples from sheet material or finished shoe soles.
